Keep your Option to participate in Employer Sponsored Health and Wellness Programs – Oppose CA-SB189!!

Dear Blog Reader:

I am asking for your support in writing to your State Senator and Congressman/woman:

As many of you may know, I have been a licensed Life & Health Agent in the state of California for over 20 years, I own and operate my own agency, and have been a certified Health/Fitness Instructor and Wellness provider for over 30 years. Thus, Health and Wellness is “near and dear to my heart“, and I have always been an advocate of the benefits of implementing small wellness habits into one’s lifestyle to benefit from the remarkable positive health changes.

There is a bill on the floor that will jeopardize wellness programs aimed towards improving the health of Californians.  These programs are NOT Mandatory, nor have they ever been, and nor has anyone requested that they be mandatory.  CA-SB189 (Authored by: D-Manning of Carmel, Monterey, CA)  is a misguided legislation aimed at “De-Incentivizing” Employers, Employees, and Individuals who partake in their employer sponsored or insurance sponsored wellness programs, in order to improve their health and receive rewards, incentives, or discounts on their healthcare costs and/or wellness programs.

Senator Monning (D-Carmel, CA-Monterey County) feels offering such programs is discriminatory.  I have attached a letter explaining his view and President Obama’s sponsored Study that proves there is NO Discrimination in offering Wellness programs!  A Rand Study shows that those who would otherwise not know better, are pointed in the ‘right’ direction after participating and learning better overall health habits through wellness programs.

I ask that you please Oppose CA-SB189.  I will be in Sacramento May 14-16th meeting with our legislators in hopes of convincing them first hand, how ludicrous this bill is!  Please join Be Well Insurance Solutions in sharing the message that Wellness Education and Participation Can and Will make a difference in a person’s health, well being, and over all happiness!  Wellness Programs DO NOT Discriminate! They have and always will be a person’s Choice to participate in.

Please show your support and share this letter [ ] with your friends, family and colleagues, and ask them to sign and fax it back to us at (408) 615-1283, and we will personally deliver it to your Senator in Sacramento.  If you would like further information on this topic, please call us at (408) 615-1280 or visit:
